Have you ever wondered why it is that birds and airplanes can fly? You can thank Daniel Bernoulli for discovering that “as the velocity of a fluid increases, the pressure exerted by that fluid decreases” (Thinkquest, 1999). If you are unfamiliar with the concept, feel free to watch this (very clever) video about Bernoulli’s Principle. If not, feel free to skip to the bottom of the post for a free notebooking template.
Since we are studying Day 2 of Creation for the next few weeks, Bernoulli’s Principle popped up (of course!). We drew out our experiment, a Styrofoam ball held aloft by a hair dryer, but I also want them to be more aware of the person who discovered this idea that allows birds to fly and airplanes to stay up in the air. So, I created a Bernoulli Biography Notebooking Page (since I couldn’t find one already made). Let me know if you use it!
